This all started when Bird & The Golden Witch went to Syracuse with Legendary Hip-Hop Producer Cranberry Dave and met his brother, Dan. Bird said that Dan was so cool, he would be "stealing Dan." This reminded The Golden Witch of Steely Dan, and so she found herself listening to a bunch of their music all night, occasionally thinking that certain bits would make for good hip-hop samples if they were looped and sped up. This led her to the creation of a four-track instrumental album, created under The Golden Witch's "13 minutes is all you need" theory. She debated on whether she'd rap on the album herself, but struggled to match the tone of the music with lyrics she'd want to hear over those instrumentals. Finally, she realized that if she was "stealing Dan," then she might as well steal more than one Dan--and since her entire flow is stolen from Danny Brown in the first place, it's even better having him on there. Here's Goldie's first-ever mash-up/remix project, Steeling Dan, by Steely Danny Brown.
